The set does most of the serious work for you: pleasantly chewy Okinawa soba, a clear savory soup, and oversized sanmai-niku for richness. Cold fresh mango afterward is a terrific contrast — fragrant, juicy and sweet after the salty-savoury broth.
What Comes in the Box / Additional Ingredients
100g x 2 bags Semi-fresh Okinawa soba noodles
150g x 1 bag Sanmai-niku pork belly
2 packets Okinawa soba soup base
2 packets Island-chili seasoning (optional)
270cc per bowl (540cc total) boiling water
Optional toppings: green onion, beni shoga, sliced kamaboko
Steps
1. Bring a generous pot of water to a full boil. Add the noodles, loosen gently with chopsticks, and boil for 4–6 minutes depending on how firm you like them.
2. While the noodles cook, warm the sealed sanmai-niku packet in hot water for about 5 minutes. (The package also allows microwaving on a plate for 2–3 minutes.)
3. Put 1 soup-base packet into each bowl. Pour in 270ml boiling water per bowl and stir well.
4. Drain the noodles thoroughly and divide between the bowls. Do not rinse; you want them hot when they meet the broth.
5. Divide the sanmai-niku between the bowls and spoon over any flavorful juices from the packet.
6. Add toppings if using. Add the island-chili seasoning only if desired, a little at a time.
7. Serve immediately, then bring out cold fresh mango for the Okinawa victory lap.
Timing Trick: Warm the pork as soon as the noodle water goes on, then make the soup during the noodles’ final minute. Everything reaches the table properly hot — no sad lukewarm island holiday.
